It powers the new Communities framework as well as the "Lightning Experience" which will completely redefine the current end user experience with one more modular, scalable, engaging and robust. As importantly, it allows developers like ourselves at Stantive to deliver customized solutions embedded in the Lightning User Interface.
Like all technology transitions, this one will take some time, and is predicted to be over 5-7 years. While this change is necessary and holds great promise for customers going forward, the challenge is what to do to deliver solutions to your customers, partners and employees today, that you can take with you in a Lightning future tomorrow. Think of Sun Microsystems Java 20 years ago. At that time, few people in the industry felt that yet another new programming language was needed.
